WETLAND CONTRACTING SPECIALISTS

Great Meadow Farm is New England's premiere coastal and freshwater wetlands
contractor. Since 1984, Great Meadow Farm has developed a flawless reputation
throughout New England—100% success on over 140 completed construction and
restoration projects. This track record reflects our unyielding commitment to implement
quality solutions for our clients.
Great Meadow Farm was founded in 1968 by Daniel McHugh, Jr. as a salt marsh haying
operation. In 1984, McHugh first applied the unique perspective and lessons of his
craft toward constructing and restoring salt marshes. Since then, Great Meadow Farm
has expanded our service areas to include freshwater wetlands, riparian stabilization
and restoration, coastal banks, dune systems, and related habitats. To this day, the
lessons learned and passed down by generations of salt marsh farmers contribute to
the success of our projects and our unique talent for implementing superior solutions to
achieve our clients' objectives.
A complete line of traditional construction equipment, complemented by custom low
ground pressure equipment and skilled operators, enable Great Meadow Farm to
execute projects of all sizes and complexities—from large-scale excavations to delicate
salt marsh microtopography.
Our wetland construction and restoration services are supported by the only salt-water
nursery in New England. Great Meadow Farm’s on-site wetlands nursery has a capacity
of over 1.5 million plants. We also propagate and grow freshwater wetland,
transitional, and upland species for our projects. We complement our own nursery
stock with an extensive list of quality nursery stock providers throughout the region.
